Round 5 - Donington Park National

The weekend began with qualifying. I had an ok session on the R6 and qualified 4th. The qualifying on the R1 began well, each lap I was bringing down my lap times until lap 5 when the engine blew up. Despite this, I still qualified 4th. 

The first race of the day was on the R6. After the first few laps being double yellows we were able to get properly racing on lap 3. This race was pretty uneventful and I finished in 3rd position. Unfortunately, due to the engine blowing up on the R1 during qualifying and the clutch not yet working on the main bike I had to miss the first R1 race as we just couldn’t get it running in time. The third race of the day was on the R6. This was another race of battles for 3rd place however by the finish line I had secured 3rd place. The final race of the day was on the R1. I now had a working bike that felt good. I was able to keep up with a rider who is usually far ahead of me. After 10 laps of bringing down the gap, I put my head down and gave it all I had to the final straight over the finish line. This paid off with a race win. 

Sunday was another successful day. Each race I competed in was filled with battles all the way through the race. The first race on the R6 got off to a good start however a red flag caused the race to restart. Fortunately, I was able to get another good start and despite battles, all the way through I was able to win the race by 0.035. The same theme continued on the R1 I was pleased to be again battling for 1st place however I did not win this race coming in a close second with a gap of 0.852. The third race of the day was on the R6 again I was able to get a great start resulting in leading 9/10 laps. Despite losing the lead on lap 9 I was able to claw it back and take the win. The final race was on the R1, yet again this was a race of battling for the win. After a long battle through backmarker traffic I finished in second place.
