This weekend was a good weekend. Back-to-back races throughout the weekend added to the challenge.
GP1 Classic (R1) – After an engine blow-up at Donnington park I was running a new bike this weekend. I was able to test this and get used to the completely new set-up on the Friday test day. I had to make the financial decision as to which bike to purchase the new tyre for and decided the R1 would be most beneficial. Throughout the weekend I had really good races finishing top in my class in all races and achieving some fastest laps. Overall a successful weekend which has resulted in me leading the championship for this category.
Pre-National 600 Sport (R6) - Due to financial circumstances, I had to run on the same tyres I had run at the previous event at Donnington Park. This gave me a disadvantage over the rest of the field who were running on fresh tyres for the weekend. This left a larger gap between myself and the lead pack, with whom I normally competing with. Of course, I would have preferred to be further up the pack, but I accept with the large running costs of competing in 2 categories, and enduring rebuilds and bike blow-ups causing me to purchase a new bike, this season, this isn’t something that is always possible. Despite the challenges this weekend (back-to-back races and deteriorating tyres) I was happy with my results.
